Job description:

Amazon Frontlines seeks a creative and strategic Digital Communications Manager with a proven track record in developing effective comprehensive strategies and managing and growing social media accounts and other digital communications channels. The ideal candidate will be able to take Amazon Frontlines’ digital community on a well-designed journey of engagement at a time when our community is growing.  They will have a deep understanding of social media algorithm trends, the ability to craft and post content independently, and the ability to conduct messaging analysis and lead adaptive strategies. This role requires managing and elevating our presence across multiple platforms and accounts, focusing on our website, Instagram and YouTube while ensuring strong engagement on Facebook, LinkedIn, and other channels like X or TikTok. It also involves helping to create a coherent and aligned strategy across all digital communications, including email mass messaging. 

The work as Amazon Frontlines’ Digital Communications Manager will be central to amplifying our mission to protect the Amazon rainforest and support Indigenous communities. By shaping how we engage with global audiences across digital platforms, this person will directly contribute to increasing awareness and mobilizing action in the fight against the climate crisis.

As a key member of our communications team, they will collaborate closely with various internal departments, including teams working on development, programs, and advocacy. The role will be pivotal in ensuring alignment on campaigns and fostering engagement through coordinated efforts with external allies and influencers.

To excel in this role, the Digital Communications Manager will need strong project management skills and the ability to maintain a global vision across all digital communications channels. This includes overseeing social media platforms, newsletters, list messaging, and digital fundraising efforts. A strategic mindset will be key in ensuring cohesive messaging and seamless content integration across all platforms while working closely with internal stakeholders and Indigenous partners to maximize the impact of our communications.

 

Ideal Candidate:

We seek a dynamic individual with a strong social media content creator background and proven experience coordinating social media strategies, from crafting content to envisaging innovative ways to enhance our public profile across different platforms. The ideal candidate should possess excellent organizational and multi-tasking skills and be able to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Strong interpersonal skills are essential for effective collaboration with diverse communications team members. A proactive approach to problem-solving and meticulous attention to detail are also critical to success in this role. The ideal candidate must be adaptable to changing priorities and tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate should have a proven record of success and a solid ability to explain the strategy proposed to the Communications Director. As Amazon Frontlines is a bilingual organization, the ideal candidate must be fluent in English and Spanish. 

 

Key Responsibilities:

Digital Strategy & Content Creation:

  • Develop and implement comprehensive digital communications strategies across Instagram, YouTube, Facebook, LinkedIn, and other platforms with a focus on building the audience, strengthening Amazon Frontlines’ digital community and meeting impact and engagement targets.
  • Oversee Amazon Frontlines’ social and newsletter content calendar, providing support with templates and guides to ensure a consistent look and feel for all digital communications.
  • Monitor mentions of Amazon Frontlines and related accounts across all channels and supporting a response and engagement strategy.
  • Manage and create a high volume of posts across all social media channels, ensuring consistent messaging and brand alignment among several accounts simultaneously.
  • Collaborate with other Communications team members to integrate social media efforts into broader campaign strategies.
  • Plan, create, and optimize paid social media advertising campaigns across platforms to achieve specific objectives.
  • Study diverse content from AF programs and partners with the communication team to design a nurtured content pipeline. 
  • Contribute to a web strategy for Amazon Frontlines and support with web activity and appropriate and timely web content.

Community Engagement & Growth:

  • In coordination with the comms team engage with our online community, responding to comments and messages and fostering discussions aligned with our mission.
  • Stay updated on social media trends and tools, experimenting with new content formats and strategies.
  • Propose and implement a strategy for advertising and direct collaborations and engagement with other allies.

Metrics & Reporting:

  • Track performance of communications initiatives and campaigns across all digital platforms, including monitoring social media metrics and KPIs, delivering actionable insights and recommendations for audience growth and engagement.
  • Provide regular performance reports, highlighting key trends and strategic adjustments.

Video & Photo Strategy and Editing:

  • Work with the communications and development teams to help source strategic photos and video and create and refine content using basic video and photo editing tools, with a willingness to improve these skills over time.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 7-10 years of experience managing social media accounts, focusing on Instagram, YouTube, and LinkedIn.  Experience with nonprofit and social impact organizations is a plus.
  • Proven track record of successfully growing and engaging diverse social media audiences.
  • Strong understanding of social media algorithms and best practices for content optimization.
  • Excellent communication skills with a knack for crafting compelling narratives and a strong sense of creativity and ideas generation.
  • Basic proficiency in video and photo editing tools, with enthusiasm for developing these skills further.
  • Ability to be a true team player and work collaborative to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication skills in English and Spanish, both written and verbal, with the ability to collaborate effectively with multi-cultural teams.
  • Passion for environmental and Indigenous rights issues, with a commitment to the mission of Amazon Frontlines.

 

Location of employment: 

Although the employment is remote, it would be desirable to be based in the Americas due to the time difference and working schedules.
